Might be putting the genie back in the bottle, but I would not mind seeing us move more towards the EU model for internet privacy. theprimary block to this is the your generations. I don't think they have a clear idea of what constitutes privacy or the need for it. there is a trial going on now about a dorm roomate putting web cam access out on his roomate and his friend. He turned down a plea deal because he doesn't believe he did anything wrong. I can remember my mom's reaction to me listening in on our neghbor's party line conversation when I was a youngster, it left an impression. We have been giving up our rights in bites, some small and some large, for the sake of convenience or fear. Getting those rights rights back is going to be difficult. They don't print many maps anymore. Pay phones on every corner and every building has gone. Are we willing to bite the bullet and force change? We let privacy we enjoyed on the phone go away with cell phones. The lack of attention migrated to the internet.

the big question is if we want privacy, who would enforce it and and at what further cost.

> C'est la vie Hugh. It will be hard to give up Google. Let me know how long you stay off Google maps before you don't care that Google doesn't need your name to find out who you are because they are tracking you through your IP address and spacial coordinates anyway and already know where you live and who you are because to you it's worth it getting to that new restaurant in the shortest route and seeing via satellite how seedy the neighborhood is before you drive all that way and know that it's going to cost you $6.42 cents in gas before you go.
