Dear colleagues,****

You are invited to participate in the* Law of Evidence in the Digital
Environment* research project by taking a brief survey at
http://fluidsurveys.com/s/law-of-evidence/ .

This survey gathers information from legal and archival/records management
professionals in order to help us understand the challenges posed by new
computer systems and forms of records to the traditional law of evidence,
and the difficulties that confront practitioners as a result.

*The Law of Evidence in the Digital Environment*, supported by your
feedback, studies the issues raised by the application of traditional
evidence laws to the new environment. Its goals are 1) to determine the
limits of the current laws, and 2) draft a model law to replace the current
legislation. The project will offer judges and lawyers a systematic
framework for interpreting digital evidence, and develop new and enhanced
curricula to educate legal and records professionals. The outcomes will
inform academic and non-academic audiences, benefit law enforcement, legal,
and information professions and the judiciary, and have the potential to
fuel significant legal reform.

If you agree to participate, we ask that you complete this web-based
questionnaire, which will take approximately 10 minutes of your time. The
survey is anonymous and delivered on secure survey software that meets the
privacy and security criteria of University of British Columbia.
Participation is voluntary, and completion of the questionnaire indicates
your consent to participate in this research. Any identifying information
will be removed from the dataset prior to analysis to protect the
confidentiality of your answers.

*The questionnaire is available online at:
http://fluidsurveys.com/s/law-of-evidence/ . This survey will be open until
June 10th, 2013.*

This study is affiliated with the University of British Columbia.

*Thank you for taking the time to respond to this questionnaire – your
perspective is important to us.*****
