Missing records in engineer's office a scandal that could cost us

At the time, Maiden said he had reason to believe that Stanley's staff had
decided to make things as difficult as possible (he used the word
"sabotaged") for the new county engineer.
In an interview with *The NEWS* in mid-January, Maiden explained the extent
of the issues with the records. "A lot of the files had been removed from
the cabinets and put in boxes," Maiden said. "The basic stuff related to
payroll and timesheets for 2011 and 2012 was all thrown into boxes, about
18 boxes (and then hidden away in a separate building's warehouse area)."
