You are absolutely right. I have worked for the Department of the Army for 40
years and have experienced a tremendous change in how we do business. In
records management alone, I've lived through 4 different record keeping
systems. I started out with The Army Functional File System (TAFFS), then we
went to the Modern Army Recordkeeping System (MARKS), to the Army Records and
Information Management System (ARIMS), and now to the new big bucket ARIMS.
With more folks doing their own maintaining of records and especially with
this new big bucket concept, I feel recordkeeping is more of a challenge than
it ever has been. Right now it's a living nightmare, but a challenge, and at
least I now have Command support. Hopefully things will look up in the near
future.
