==================================================================
This is a reminder that the DEADLINE for submitting proposals to serve
as consultants to the following project is **MONDAY, JUNE 19, 2006.**
==================================================================

The Council of State Archivists is seeking consultants for its NHPRC-grant
funded project, "Closest to Home: Archival Programs for Local Government
Records." Additional information about the project is available at
http://www.statearchivists.org/lga/.

This RFP is a follow-up to our January 2006 call for expressions of interest
in serving as a project consultant. The project's Task Force met in March
and considered a wide range of issues. We have now decided to focus the
consultant reports on the following four topics:

  -- Sustainable funding for local government archives
  -- Raising awareness and strengthening advocacy
  -- Training in managing local government archival records
  -- The impact of new technologies

Consultants will be selected by the project's Task Force which is co-chaired
by Kaye Lanning Minchew, Troup County (GA) Archives, and Roy Tryon, South
Carolina Department of Archives and History. The consultants will work
closely with CoSA staff and with the project's lead consultant, Bruce
Dearstyne.

We invite individuals who have expertise in local government archives and
experience in preparing similar reports to review the detailed "Local
Government Archives Consultants Request for Proposals" at
http://www.statearchivists.org/lga/consultant_RFP.htm and then submit a
proposal as outlined in the "How to respond" section at the end of the
document.

If you have questions about the project, please feel free to contact either
of the Task Force co-chairs or CoSA staff:
