I'm a bit underwhelmed to see the low salary for some fairly rigorous
qualifications.  In fact, I would be a bit worried about how productive and
how good an employee might be if they accepted the pay rate with that level
of knowledge and expertise.

Position available: NYC Dept of Environmental Protection - Archive Manager

Position Description:
The Archive Manager, under general direction, assists in managing the DEP
Archive and its collection records. Principal  responsibility is the
physical operation of the Archive space including maintenance, security and
disaster planning and  office management including procurement and record
keeping/file systems. Assists with collection management activities as
possible including processing records (inventories, arrangement,
describing), preservation (handling and storing) and  research. Provides
research assistance to internal and external researchers. Utilizes computer
systems including collection  databases. Communicates effectively verbally
and in writing. Assists in planning and report writing. Assists in
supervising  support staff including students.

Qualification requirements:
Master's degree from accredited college in Library Science, Archival
Sciences, American History, Political Science, or a  related area; or
baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and one year full-time
professional experience in archival,  records management or library work.

Preferred skills:
Experience administering the facility and office operations of an archive,
library or museum. Experience processing  government or archival records.
Self-motivated and flexible with organizational and problem-solving skills;
works well  collaboratively and independently. Computer literacy including
experience using collection/records management databases.  Experience with a
construction expansion project.

Salary: $31,107 for new employees, $35,072 for full-time employees who have
been working for NYC for at least one year.
