Program
THE CONTENT MANAGEMENT ARENA: WHERE DOES RECORDS MANAGEMENT FIT? Presented
by Art Bellis of OmniRim Solutions Inc.
With all the news around compliance, privacy and other information
management issues, records management has become "in vogue". Content
management companies are scrambling to build or buy their way into the
records management arena. This session will focus on de-mystifying content
management. By the end of the discussion, attendee's should expect to
better understand how content management can help their organizations and
what role the records manager should play in the process.

SPARKING A COLLABORATION WITH I.T. Presented by Mike Hausser of the City
of Kitchener
A successful collaboration between RM and IT requires a mutual understanding
of each other’s issues and needs. We live in an era in which information in
paper and electronic formats is growing at an exponential rate fueled by
rapidly evolving technology. IT and RM have a common need to manage the
information but from very different perspectives. There are no magic
bullets. Both IT and RM deal with users/staff that really don't care about
records or IT. They just expect 'it' to work when 'it' is needed, yet they
don't not want to put any effort into the process or follow any of the
‘rules’. This session will help identify the issues and needs from both
perspectives to find commonality upon which to form a foundation of
collaboration.
