Don't forget the concept of "record copy" when developing your retention
schedules. Much of what gets created electronically ends up being retained
in paper for a while and if it has a long retention period, is scanned into
the imaging system, thus becoming the "record copy". It is the record copy
that has to be retained for so many years, or permanently. The rest are
duplicates/copies.

Am I missing something here? Records are created digitally, printed, then
scanned for retention?

Why not just capture the digital version for retention?

I dont disagree with the idea of designating a 'record copy' and the other
copies being duplicates.
