I felt that the venue for this years ARMA conference was excellent! The
facilities and hotel accommodations were first class. There were some
excellent presentations of current issues such as e-mail, instant
messaging, automated classification, etc.

I too noticed though that there were a few holes in the lineup of
educational sessions. Records and Information Management is moving more
into electronic document management and Enterprise Information Portal
(EIP) solutions. I did not see any of this at the conference
educational sessions, and frankly I was disappointed. However if you
visited the expo floor these integrated solutions were present. Over
all though, I did think it was a good conference. I will however study
the sessions for next year before I decide to spend my training dollars
on the ARMA conference. This type of EIP solution presentations that
were lacking must be there before I signup.

Sorry to be the wet blanket on this one, but I was disappointed in this
years conference. Currently, we're in the stages of implementing an
EDRMS and I was hoping to hear some case studies.......not one. Yes, I
did hear some very good sessions but on several occasions could not get
into the one I wanted as there was insufficient space. There were also
many sessions on Sarbanes-Oxley which is very big in the US, but not
terribly applicable to us in Canada. It was nice to see Alice from
Orlando though.

And guess what....Long beach is not a beach but a harbour.....definately
a misnomer. With this being my first visit to California,I I had
expectations of what LA and Hollywood would look like. If I didn't know
better, I could have been in parts of Toronto. Well so much for
complaining.....guess I'll just climb back on my dog sled team and head
back to my igloo.
