Indeed, it is more expensive. I am also planning our file room move to
take place in March, 2005. We currently have approx 97K of linear feet
of moveable shelving and we will be moving to approx 4K linear feet (the
great majority of our docs are now scanned and hence don't need the
paper, which is sent to our storage facility). We closed one of our
satellite records offices 2 years ago and still have moveable shelves in
excellent condition which we purchased about 4 years ago. After talking
to our construction people and the tab rep, it appeared that it would be
more costly to disassemble the shelves, move them to the new location
and assemble them in the new location.

Good luck!!

We're moving one of our regional offices from one downtown Boston
building to another. We want to move our current open-shelf S2MA
SpaceSaver hand crank system to the new office space. Six carriages, 5
units per carriage, 7 shelves high. Our prospective contractor tells us
it will cost more to move it than to install a new one. Does that sound
reasonable?
