Hello there,
Here is what the State of Florida's Department of State, Division of
Library and Information Services, Bureau of Archives and Records
Management requires for state agencies:
GS1-S Item# 45
RECORDS DISPOSITION DOCUMENTS
This record series consists of records disposition documentation that is
in accordance with chapters 119 and 257, F.S. NOTE: Effective January 1,
2001, all records dispositions should receive final authorization from
the agency records management custodian and/or designee. These records
may also include disposal or transfer authorizations from records
owner/custodian. Prior to January 1, 2001, all records disposition
requests received final authorization from the Department of State,
Division of Library and Information Services, Bureau of Archives and
Records Management. See also "RECORDS RETENTION SCHEDULES: AGENCY
SPECIFIC".
RETENTION:
a) Record copy. Permanent; maintain for five years; then contact the
Florida State Archives for archival review.
b) Duplicates. Retain until obsolete, superseded or administrative
value is lost.
Just as an FYI, records retention schedules are also kept permanently.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!
Earl

Subject: Retentions for records of destroyed boxes and files
Hi all,
We are re-evaluating the retention periods for our records management
system. Once records have been destroyed, how long should the records
of
them in a records management system be retained?
Thanks in advance for your help!
