Hi Bonnie--

I suggest you post this to the archives and archivists listserv, and
especially contact Elizabeth Adkins, archivist, who is a specialist in this
area of archival work. The address for the list is:

Subject: Corporte Historical Archives

Good Afternoon Members of the Listserv,
I realize that many people are out of the office this week due to the
holiday, but I decided to post my question regarding Corporate Historical
Archives anyway. The questions may be a bit out of the range of this forum,
but I have received great advice from the listserve in the past, so here it
goes: We are starting a corporate historical archive and are hoping to
collect many of the photographs of corporate events for the archive.
Someone has mentioned that we need to get the permission of the people in
the photographs before we use them in any manner. How have other
corporations dealt with this? Is it assumed that all employees are subject
to having their photos used in the normal course of business (on
marketing/PR material, corporate publications, etc.) and therefore do not
have the ability to object? Or do corporations have their employees sign a
waiver authorizing the use of the photos? If there is anyone out there who
has had experience setting up their historical archives and is willing to
share lessons learned, please contact me off the list. Thank You,

Bonnie Chaney
