Interesting. Based on the table at this web site, authors are paid an
average of 3 cents to 4 cents per word. Most "trades" I have written for
pay about 30 cents to 45 cents per word.

Subject: RIM Authors and Experts Wanted

Companies who provide commercial services in the records and information
management space are looking for strong written content for their
newsletters and client publications. These publishers include commercial
record storage vendors, destruction, imaging, software, hardware and other
related industry companies. These companies are not usually willing to pay
authors to have articles written specifically for them, but are ready and
willing to purchase good, solid articles to add to their publications that
might have already been published somewhere else. The problem is in finding
the articles they need and the hassle in determining costs and reprint
rights issues.

You as record managers and related industry insiders are the experts and
authors who can be a significant part of the solution to the above outlined
problem. You can provide the applicable content for their publications. By
writing articles, you can also create a regular, ongoing income stream from
your expertise. So start writing what you know and are an expert in.
Preferable lengths for articles are 100- 600 words. The topics can be
anything related to what you do, what you know or are experienced in. Your
work will more likely sell to publishers if it is written in a way that will
benefit them from publishing it.

Newsletter-Archives.com, a service of Flourish Press Inc., is the link
between RIM authors and industry publishers. We do the work of marketing
the service, selling your articles, collecting payments, sending the
articles and then ensuring copyright restrictions and licensing agreements
are met. As a new service, we need to develop a significant selection of
articles before we begin marketing and selling them in the new year.

Thus, we offer and invite you to make use of this opportunity to provide an
outlet for your expertise and a revenue stream as one of the benefits.

Visit http://newsletter-archives.com/author.htm
to learn more about the article submission process, payment structures and
terms of service. Please note that the website is in early stages of
development and does not have the purchase side up and running yet. The goal
for that portion is early 2005.

I look forward to working with some of you in this exciting new project.

Please reply off list for further discussion or clarifications at
