The State of Washington has background investigations reflected as part of
the Employee History file and retained "Termination plus 6 years).  It is in
their Records Management Guidelines for Local Government Agencies of
Washington State).  You can download from the State Archives

Then goto General Retention Schedule, then open the Local Government
document, Page S149, Item Number 26.
