Subject: Retention policy for file types

Can anyone address this issue: My IS department is looking to create a retention policy for certain file types>>>> snip

Yvonne: Per established professional ethical practice, no record/document/file/etc. should be assigned retention by file type. The content of the records determines how long to keep them. I might suggest William Saffady's book "Records and Information Management: Fundamentals of Professional Practice" or other publications in ARMA's bookstore (http://www.arma.org/bookstore/index.cfm) as reference.

Jim
