Position Title:  Records Analyst
Harvard University Library, Harvard University Archives, Records Management
Office
Salary Grade 55

Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Lead Records Analyst/Records Appraisal Archivist, is
responsible for analyzing information holdings of University offices,
appraising and scheduling University records, and developing solutions to
records management needs of University offices. As a member of consultant
teams assumes the following duties: acts as liaison between the University
Archives' Records Management Office and University offices; establishes
length of time and conditions under which records must be retained by
offices and creates records schedules; assists offices with management of
active and inactive records. Working closely with senior staff and using
historical knowledge and training, assesses the importance of information
resources for future study and research and selects records for accession
into Archives. Assists client offices in understanding and articulating
information management needs. Assists in the development of records
management solutions, policies, and procedures for University offices.

Required Education, Experience, Skills
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in library/information science
with a concentration in archives & records management, information
management, business, history, or archival studies & 1 yr of relevant
experience in records management or archives, preferably in a University
setting; or equivalent education & experience in records & information
management, preferred. In lieu of a master's degree, an active CRM
designation is desirable. Familiarity with electronic records management,
electronic document or records management systems, & preservation of &
long-term access to electronic records preferred. Knowledge of records
management practices & techniques (lifecycle concepts, disaster recovery,
vital records, etc.), file management, records appraisal & classification,
& computer systems required. Demonstrated problem-solving skills & positive
client-service orientation to work with varied clientele with tact &
diplomacy as well as solid communication & presentation skills required. At
times may work in basements, attics, warehouses, & other areas that may be
dusty or moldy. Must be able to regularly lift 50 lb. boxes.
