Hey Kelly-

If you can get your hands on a copy of "Managing Risks for Records and
Information" by Victoria L. Lemieus (available through the ARMA bookstore) I
think you will be 10 steps ahead of the game. This is the best and most
concise little publication I have seen on the subject. It will give you a
really good foundation and some common points for communicating with your IT
folks.

If your company actually has a risk manager, you may want to meet with
he/her and initiate more dialogue to learn more about what else you may be
able to bring to the table to the benefit of your IT group.
