I have had cassette tapes (showing my age) on my dash in my car in the
summer and vis a vis the winter and they do not like high or low
temperatures, never mind the humidity. NARA has an interesting Guide,
"Managing Audiovisual Records: An Instructional Guide"
http://tinyurl.com/6m8u9

Interesting tidbit: British Standard BS 4783: 1988 recommends a constant
temperature of between 18-22°C (64-71°F). All data storage media should be
properly shelved and kept in appropriate shelving. This environment should
be free of dust and the storage area should be checked on a weekly basis.
