Arlene,

Ideally the city would have in its archives zoning maps from that date.  From personal experience it would probably be difficult to find them.  

You might try Sanborn fire insurance maps from that era - try the local library for those (but don't ask Don Saklad to help!).  I believe they show property addresses and would show if there were two addresses for that structure.
