Is this recommendation just for microfilm or does it recommend the same
for video and 35mm films?

This is always a difficult question. ISO 18911-1999 (available from
ANSI.org or AIIM.org) gives some guidance. Paints that are as free as
possible from oxidants should be chosen. The ISO standard also
advises
that film should be removed from the room totally during the painting
operation and the vault or storage room ventilated for 3 months prior
to
returning the film to storage. We also have available a pamphlet
called
Kodak D-31 if anyone is interested it can be obtained from the
Kodak.com
website.
