The National Archives and Records Administration, Mid Atlantic Region is pleased to offer a special two day class at the Pennsylvania State Records Center in Harrisburg.

Disaster Preparedness and Response
Date: 5/3/05-5/4/05
Time: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Cost: $300.00
Location: The State Records Center Building, 1825 Stanley Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17103

The two-day workshop will prepare you to participate fully in your agency's Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning program. Every agency is required by law to have a working COOP plan that is tested periodically. Records managers and vital records programs have a critical role to play in disaster preparedness to ensure the records your agency needs remain available under the worst of circumstances. The workshop provides practical advice on developing a workable recovery plan. Find out what you need to do to be a key player if you are not already.

A "mini-disaster" is staged a on the second day to give participants a hands-on recovery experience. Casual dress, especially on the second day, is strongly recommended!

Topics:
" Identifying vital records
" Planning a vital records program
" Writing a COOP or disaster plan
" Handling minor as well as major disasters
" Salvaging damaged records
" Preserving your agency's permanent records
