Tired of winter? Ready for a spring break?

Then plan on coming to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware in early May to attend two new records management courses. The National Archives and Records Administration, Mid Atlantic Region, is pleased to offer two records management classes that are part of NARA's "Certification of Federal Records Management Training" program.

Creating and Maintaining Agency Business Information (Knowledge Area 2)
Tuesday and Wednesday, May 3 & 4, 2005

What are Federal records management requirements, why are they important, and how are they applied to agency records? This course focuses on the development and implementation of polices and procedures for adequate and proper documentation. Understand how recordkeeping requirements for creating and maintaining records can improve the economy and efficiency of agency operations. This course is required for obtaining the Certification of Federal Records Management Training.

Records Schedule Implementation (Knowledge Area 4)
Thursday and Friday, May 5 & 6, 2005

How do you use an approved records schedule? Using a records retention schedule or records manual is easier than you think. This course provides an overview of how to apply the General Records Schedule and NARA approved records schedules to Federal agency records. It covers the steps involved in the disposition of records, including destroying temporary records, transferring temporary records to off-site storage, and transferring permanent records to the National Archives. This course is required for obtaining the Certification of Federal Records Management Training.

These workshops are being held at the Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center, 101 North Boardwalk, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. Last year the attendees found the location very enjoyable and conducive to learning. These new courses will be very informative and the information beneficial to you and your agency.

To see our complete listing of workshops, dates and locations, visit our web site at http://www.archives.gov/midatlantic/fed_agency_services/records_management/training.html.

Each course costs $300 ($600 for both) and includes all materials, a continental breakfast each morning and all breaks. To attend one or both of these classes contact Dana Keene Sloan at 215-305-2008 or register by email: [log in to unmask]
