Joe

G'day from that part of the list up here in Australia. You sure do have an
interesting job mix. Hopefully a listserver in the health services area
will be able to help you out with something specific. There is little
point in sending you my file plan as it's all about energy distribution
and retailing, and in Australia, but it is based on NSW State Records
Keyword AAA thesaurus, which covers a lot of the routine admin functions
done in any organisation. Could be a good place to start. You have to buy
it unfortunately:

http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/publicsector/rk/aaa/keyword.htm

But you are certainly on the right track. My 25 year's experience in
developing and maintaining file plans, classifications, thesauruses etc,
and developing software for this also, says that anything is better than
developing your own from scratch. Beg, borrow, steal . . . and don't
forget to allow for ongoing maintenance. Things change!

Cheers

Glenn

These views are mine alone. They may or may not be those of any
previous or present employers or clients. I don't know. If I'd asked
and they'd agreed, I would have signed it "Bloggs and Co and
Glenn". Or whatever. But I haven't, so I didn't.
