Hey Steve,

Just wondering about your "those twins comment." I was taken aback
when I read it but then thought about what you probably meant. I assume
you're referring to some celebrities. Not to me and my late twin
sister, Eva. My twin was a records declassification archivist at the
National Archives. She was a supervisory archivist and a team leader
for NARA from 1983 until her death from cancer in December 2002 at the
age of 51. Just to make sure, your twins comment was intended in some
other context, and had nothing to do with my sis, right?

As for anyone who might be tempted to stereotype government employees
as slothful bureaucrats (no, none of you would, I'm sure, LOL), consider
what I say about my sis and how she handled her government job during
her final days - see
http://h-net.msu.edu/cgi-bin/logbrowse.pl?trx=vx&list=h-diplo&month=0301&week=a&msg=ho9Ws/NR4DjmxN7m8iurug&user=&pw=

You learn a lot about people when you observe how they handle the
approach of death, dot dot dot. I admired my sis greatly and naturally
miss her, a lot.

Maarja, I started in RIM at a quasi-gov't agency; a large state
University;
then went to a Fortune 100 energy corp; and now to a municipal
organization. We do plan our programs to benefit our specific
organization; part of our fiduciary duty.

Yes, it does sound like you have the spectrum of media covered for
blackouts, Armageddon, etc. :>)

I love ...old pickup trucks...boats with huge engines...little baby
ducks...; quarterbacks eating dirt...and those twins (oops)

Best regards, Steve

An interesting off list message from a List subscriber stated well
what
I was aiming at earlier. Records managers respond to the best
interests
of their employers.

<snip>

As for Steve, who really hates paper, well, if there is a power outage
or blackout in Washington, I know I can get a flashlight and still
read
my paper files. Work and research don't have to stop (hmmmm). And I
even have a manual typewriter which I have kept for the artifactual
value, LOL! Of course, I also have my personal Treo smartphone,
yuppie
that I am. ;-) So, I've got the whole spectrum covered.
