 Good Morning All!

I have been battling with abandoned records and would like to have some
input from my fellow professionals on how to handle them.

We have some 40,000 employees and as the company grows and changes, some
business units are dissolved. When the employees in those business
units get the tap on the shoulder that they are relieved of duty, they
walk out (as anyone would do), leaving behind records and non-records by
the truck load. When real estate comes in to dismantle the offices,
they throw the documents into boxes and ship them to our Records Center.
Since they are not the subject matter experts, they cannot tell us what
the records are, if they are subject to Legal Hold, etc. Outside of
looking at each piece of paper or document, we do not have a method to
rescue any documents that might be subject to Legal Hold or audit. What
do all of you suggest is the best "fix" for this problem?

Any suggestions and real life experiences would be wonderful!

Have a great day!

Thank you,
