I went to the presentation in San Diego a few years back. He uses
members of the chapter/group to portray certain "characters" in the
trial and gives them a little background as to who they are. He played
the lawyer for both sides. He then stages the trial. It's not scripted,
so you never know what he will seize upon and exploit. At the
presentation I saw, it served more as a cautionary tale of what NOT to
do. It may have been a little more informative if he used chapter
members who had a bit of knowledge about the role they were playing. For
example, someone playing a CFO should have at least some accounting
knowledge.

After the trial, he discusses what went wrong and how RM's could be
better prepared to address the kinds of challenges they may face in
court. It was very informative AND very amusing at the same time.

John Montanta's "mock trial" is an actual mock trial.  It includes the
opposing counsel, a judge and witnesses just like a real trial.
