We will be occupying the 16th & 17th floors of an office building and I've been called on by our building committee (at the last minute, boggles the mind, you'd think the project manager or architect could answer this) to determine what the floor load would be for a file room.
There are two types of floor loading live and static. The architect
should know what the floor load requirements are (and if not they
should be reported for not knowing). See if the building has a
building ops group they should be able to tell you what the floor load
capacity is. Also check with your shelving vendor as they should be
able to provide you with some assistance.
this is not something a Records manager should know intimately. Yes we
need to know about it but it is the responsiblity of a structural
engineer.
