In the energy utilities business here in Oz we are mightily regulated, so
Compliance certainly is a top level function. We use it for
corporate-level compliance activities like our distribution and retailing
licenses from the State Government, ie the functions which allow us to
stay in business. Compliance is also an Activity, and can be slotted in
under other Functions for less business-critical activities like RM
compliance, ISO 9002, assorted safety standards etc etc.

Function

COMPLIANCE

Scope Notes

The activities associated with complying with mandatory accountability,
fiscal, legal, regulatory or quality standards or requirements to which
the organisation is subject. Includes records related to:

· Auditing and Inspecting business compliance with organisational policy
and procedures.
· Complying with licences requirements for the supply, distribution and
retailing of energy and associated products.
· Reporting, submissions, liaison, and plans designed to comply with
industry and regulatory standards.
· Development of the organisations regulatory strategy.

These views are mine alone. They may or may not be those of any
previous or present employers or clients. I don't know. If I'd asked
and they'd agreed, I would have signed it "Bloggs and Co and
Glenn". Or whatever. But I haven't, so I didn't.
