Tony and any others interested -

I would recommend the COSHRC website for retention questions in anyone's
state. Available at http://www.coshrc.org/arc/states.htm, this website
provides links to both archival and records management programs at the
state level. From there, it is possible to look around and get some
pretty good information. For local historical society records in
Michigan, Tony, I found nothing directly. But I did find a local
retention and disposition schedule for public libraries that could
provide some guidance. In addition to a great number of series entries
for administrative records, it also had accessioning records, local
history collections and so on, all at
http://www.michigan.gov/documents/hal_mhc_rms_gs17_114359_7.pdf (the
page that I arrived at by following the COSHRC link to Michigan).

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Mark

Subject: Retention Schedule for Historical Societies

Greetings,

I was wondering if someone on the list would be kind enough to let me
view a records retention schedule for a historical society. My
supervisor and I have been asked to assist a historical society with
their records and archival collections. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Sincerely,
