We are about to change over to a web based database system which will
replace the database in use since 1994.  Can anyone please suggest where I
would look to find out about retention guidelines for databases - what I
should be looking for, what I need to be aware of, etc.  I realize that it
is organization specific, but in our case the database was the brain of
the organization.  IT says that they will try to keep the old system
functioning as long as possible but that the technology is no longer
supported and the hardware that it it running on may not survive much
longer.  All the data is of course being converted to the new system.
