Hi Peter--

Take an archival course and some history classes, some business classes and
some legal research classes--for credit or not, or find the requisite
information in publications.

There is danger in approaching a career in records and information
management without the perspectives of these disciplines. Then take a look
at the National Archives and Records Management site, for records
management. Refer to ARMA and take advantage of your state records
retention guidelines. Check into Business continuity publications and
disaster preparedness. By then you should have a feel for what needs to be
addressed.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Fairfax, MA, CA

materials in developing information management guidelines,
policies/procedures and process documentation.

Thanks
