It's the season for Archives Week/Month 2005 and we've just finished
updating the Directory of Archives Week/Month activities at
www.coshrc.org/arc/archweekdir.htm and the Archives Week/Month poster
gallery at www.coshrc.org/arc/archweekposters.htm.

So far this year, we've collected information about Archives Week/Month
activities in four regions and 35 states, along with a few comparable
programs in Canada, the UK, and the Republic of Ireland.  The earliest
Archives Week activities started in mid- to late-September and some run into
mid-November.

The poster gallery continues to grow and is a colorful display of creativity
in promoting the importance of archives.

There are now at least five states that have developed guides to help
repositories organize Archives Week activities: Georgia, New York, North
Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. Much of the advice they provide is
easily transferred across state lines, so if you're thinking about starting
an Archives Week observance in your repository, you're sure to find
something in one of these to help. See
