Season Greetings! My company is discussing imaging our MSDS and putting
them on our company intranet. I know this was somewhat of a topic
recently on the list and I've gone back to the archives but I have some
specific questions I need your help with.

Once imaged, how is an image purged when the retention requirement of
Act+30 is up? Is this something that is built in the software to manage
retention once the msds is no longer active? Act+30 is a long time.

If a msds is revised or updated-does the old version (image) need to be
retained? Can a single image be updated/removed on the system?

What about migration? What happens in 5 years when everything is
outdated and inaccessible? Again, Act+30 is a long time.

There has been a "task force" from our IS & Safety Departments working
on this and now they are to the point where they need to discuss
retention requirements - so I am just being brought in on this whole
thing now. I have no idea what software they are going to use or
anything more than I've been asked to attend a meeting to cover
retention requirements. I don't know if they are planning on retaining
the paper--which brings up a bunch more questions.

Any assistance on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
