I'm with John on this. Use jargon only where necessary or useful. I never
mention the word 'continuum' talking to non-RM people. 'Life cycle' is
something even senior management understand with little or no explanation,
and they also understand when (sometimes) I add that the life cycle is a
simplification, there are variations and exceptions.

In fact I rarely use 'continuum' even when talking with RM people (eg my
team). The 'Life' of a document or record is quite sufficient shorthand.
'Continuum' is more than a bit academic, let's leave it there where it may
be useful.

And as Terry Pratchett says, the trouble with words like
'continuinuinuinuum' is how do you stop spelling them?

These views are mine alone. They may or may not be those of any
previous or present employers or clients. I don't know. If I'd asked
and they'd agreed, I would have signed it "Harry Peck and Co and
Glenn". Or whatever. But I haven't, so I didn't.
