<...looking for sensible alternatives ... for rehousing files that lived

Why not create the standard file (with a label) in the first place and
put that in the hanging file (not individually labeled). Then, when
they can be accessioned to storage, you just pluck them from the lateral
file and you're ready to put them in a box.

Going forward, it shouldn't be any more labor intensive than your
current process of labeling the hanging files. You will incur
additional supply costs for the standard folders though.

Or, if you'd rather, you can purchase filing cabinets and forego the
need for hanging files all together.

Good luck!

Julie

Subject: [RM] Hanging file folders...

Hi all,

I am looking for sensible alternatives that colleagues could recommend
actively have lived in hanging file folders
(pendaflex) and that now will be stored in boxes to send to a records
center. It seems resource
intensive to ask staff to remove files from the pendaflex and then
relabel them to place in boxes, as is recommended.

Of course, the ideal would be to have options that would serve the
purpose of housing records both during their active and inactive
periods, as it
would be best to prevent the damage and loss of records.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Best,

C M Figueroa
