Posted on arstechnica.  A team of political science researchers has used
text mining to "answer questions too difficult for humans to handle on
their own."  The article doesn't get into the technical details, but it
shows that text mining isn't as stagnant as I previously thought.
Perhaps there's hope for automated classification, yet!  (I'm not
holding my breath.)
