I sort of agree with you as well.  However, our payroll people rely on the 
timesheet which was signed by both the supervisor and the staff member. If 
there happens to be any disagreement between the payroll system and what 
the staff member remembers or has records of, the timesheets are consulted 
and considered as gospel.    The seven years has served us well and 
settled many disagreements.
