I was on the ICRM Board at that time, and did not see a need to change
the CRM certification credential to a tiered approach of the nature
being discussed. However, it was already somewhat "tiered", as it is
now with the requirement to pass all of the first five examinations
before being allowed to sit for Part VI; Case Studies. The ICRM will
not authorize and award certification credentials (including acronyms)
until a candidate has the requisite education and professional
experience, and has proven broad-based knowledge and capability.
Personally, I do not want to see RIM folks out there with worthless
acronyms behind their names; cheapens it for all of we in the
profession, and hurts our profession in my opinion.

A number of years ago when I was on the ARMA Board of Directors we
approached the ICRM about this and they did not see the need for
anything
than the CRM designation. I thought then and still do that a tiered
form of
certification is valuable. Bob
