tI think we're talking apples and orange here. The ECM is not a
"professional certification" like a CRM or CPA. I don't believe it has
continuing education requirements. It is a certificate of completion
stating that you satisfactorily completed some coursework relating to
that subject matter. Valuable? Yes. But not a "professional
certification"

OK, time to chime in with this thread. Having just gone through this
training, I'll throw my 2 cents (1.8 CAN) in. The ECM has three
components. The Practitioners, the Specialists and the Masters. The
first two of these are two day sessions with an examination at completion.
It is much like part 1 -5 of the CRM. I would say it is easier to get
either of these over the masters. The Masters which I am taking includes
both components of the Practitioners and the Specialists course. It also
has a case study similar to part 6 of the CRM exam. I believe a pass is
70 or 75%. Taking the course would not be enough to pass any of these
sections. It requires practical experience and a good understanding of
ECM basics and concepts. As Nolene points out it does not have continuing
or prior education requirements or workplace experience. It is, however,
a certification. A professional certification....what exactly is that and
who determines whether a CRM is considered "professionally
certified"....all CRM's?

Before you jump on my back, I rate both highly and expect to start towards
my CRM shortly. Is the ERMM easier to attain....possibly. Both however
require a broad knowledge base in the RIM field.
