Document (Document) - information contained in a particular medium, generated in a business context, but not necessarily as evidence of a business transaction. 

Record (Document) - includes any audio-visual records, correspondence, memorandum, books, plans, maps, drawings, pictorial or graphic works, photographs, films, sound recordings, voice mail, videotapes, machine readable records, published material, data, and any other documentary material, regardless of physical form or characteristics, and any copy thereof.

Transitory Information (Renseignement transitoire) - information that is required for a limited time to ensure the completion of a routine action or the preparation of a subsequent document. Transitory information includes information in a form used for casual communication, draft versions of documents where comments and additional information are incorporated into subsequent versions, process versions of documents that were not communicated outside the creating office and duplicate versions of documents used as a reference source only.
