I always wondered how young Julie really is.....  As for acronyms, there
are all too many times when I have to ask people who speak "Acronym-ese"
to please translate those acronyms back into English!

John, I totally agree with you and I don't think age has anything to do
with it (unless 34 is now considered ancient!).  The acronyms not only
defeat full text searching and readability, etc. but honestly I think it
is wholly unprofessional.  I shudder to think how my son (who is nearing
7 years old) will communicate as he grows up.  Will he write his thesis
in "generation Z shorthand" too?  I understand there are times and
places for everything - but will my son?

My other pet peeve is using smiley faces in professional communications.
I would never, ever think to put a smiley face in an email to my boss
...
