A NEW ERA IN MANAGING ELECTRONIC RECORDS - Introducing Office 2007 and a
CASE STUDY of Its Use at Microsoft
Rachael Heade
Microsoft Law & Corporate Affairs
Learn about the new records management functionality in Office 2007, and
how it was piloted and is being used at Microsoft. Rachael will also
provide some insight into how this new functionality actually sets the
stage for improved employee participation in the overall Microsoft
Corporate Records Management program, as well as steps taken to provide
training and work successfully at the departmental level.
Rachael has been on the Corporate Records Management team at Microsoft
for over 7 years. As the Records Management Analysis Manager she is
responsible for the oversight of the maintenance of Microsoft's
Corporate Retention Schedule, providing guidance on document retention
and disposition, the development and implementation of departmental
implementation guidelines; as well as the development of all records
management training which includes modules which are common to all
Microsoft employees and modules which are based on roles within the
corporation. The scope of her work is primarily US-centric; however; she
does conduct research on international retention compliance, and
provides guidance in this area to field offices and subsidiaries around
the globe. She also developed a formalized process for transitioning
records and information assets for use in mergers & acquisitions as well
as divestitures. She is currently responsible for implementation of this
process for all Microsoft mergers & acquisitions as well as
divestitures.
