 Bill-

The application of various Standards, Technical Reports and or Best
Practices is common throughout the RIM World. The degree to which someone
is familiar or is desired (or required) to apply the Standards depends on
many factors. These would include the level to which you are regulated, the
industry in which you work, whether you are public or private, the
geographical dispersion of your company (US only, International,
Multi-National, etc.) the size of your company, and the robustness of your
RM Program, to name a few.

The SDC and former SDC members have done this at the past 4 Conferences at
minimum. In addition, Diane Carlisle and Eugenia Brumm made one last year,
and Diane and two others provided one on ISO15489 the year before.

The SDC has done poster sessions at the last three Conferences on various
subjects, ranging from a description of the Standards development process,
what Standards are available, and how to use standards in the workplace.
These are tabletop exercises where attendees can walk by and ask questions
and engage the presenters to further describe the topic, and generally, it's
not uncommon for people to spend 10-15 minutes getting answers related
directly to the issues on the spot, or to be contacted by an SDC member
following the Conference to provide more detail. We have had no fewer than
2 members of the SDC or the HQ Liaisons at the booth for the entire 4 hour
period over the last 3 years.
