I?ve been lurking in the background on this one and will admit that
everyone who has posted a comment so far has expressed a valid point.
However, what I have not seen (or remember seeing) is an acknowledgment
that in most companies the Records Management department is a one-person
department. You do ?everything?. You lift the 50 lb boxes, you move the
skids, you wander through the dark recesses and basements. You write the
policies, the procedures and conduct the training classes. And for all
that you are given the title of ?Manager?. If you are lucky, someday
the department will expand and somebody else will be moving the skids and
you will then be the ?manager? in the true sense of the word but in the
meantime it?s just you, and you had better know how to use the equipment.
