simply imaging without any workflow software involved...and real figures

Just heard of another example of where an ECM system will save an
organization big dollars without the use of workflow. During a meeting
with a vendor, I was told of a major retailer who is implementing an ECM
application to keep track of photographs. They have a ton of
photographs that are used in their stores, catalogs, flyers, print adds
and on other media. Unfortunately, they have so many they are unable to
find the ones they need. As a result, they keep taking the same photo's
over and over. Even the photographers know that they have taken the
same shot of a toaster several times. However, existing photos are so
difficult to locate that a new photo is nearly always required (and
saved). Using an ECM to manage the collection will enable the
organization to use metadata to find the photo's they need. They expect
to save a bundle on photographer expenses and reduce the time required
for layout.
