I've seen all types of configurations at law firms. It greatly depends
on the firm's culture and to what level they want to staff the Records
Dept. Where I do see a pattern is with IP files. Due to their usage
activity, in firms where the IP Group is focused, there is dedicated
staff to manage just their files. Otherwise, it seems you can slice and
dice RM activities any which way.

Subject: Record Department Setups

I am interested in learning how large law firms are currently setup as
far
as there records personnel. Specifically if the clerks are grouped
together in a department type area or if there situated throughout the
entire firm working in a specific area or department.

I also would like to know if the clerks work on any and all areas of law

or are they assigned to work for specific departments or groups.

I would appreciate any and all information on the above, especially from
a
larger firm perspective.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.
