Chris and Peter have covered this pretty well. I discussed this with a
Corporate Counsel a few years ago and he said he could remember only one
case over many many years where the forensics associated with the signature
(angle of nib, pressure etc) were important in a forgery case. You could
only cover this by scanning at VERY high resolution, probably in 3D or from
several angles. But only one case in thousands, and this in an insurance
company.

Put all Chris' procedures and controls in place. Have a look also at ISO
standard ISO 15801-2006 Electronic Imaging - information stored
electronically - recommendations for trustworthiness and reliability. Assess
your risk (probability and impact). Destroy the lot I say.
