Subject: [rmaa_list] RMAA Family sad to announce the passing of J Eddis
Linton
To: RMAA_list <[log in to unmask]>

An open announcement to the Records and Information Management Family:

The RMAA Family sends its prayers to the family of one of the RMAA's
founding fathers, J. Eddis Linton, who recently passed away at the age of
87. Eddis is a legend in the records and information management community
and continued to be involved with the Association right to the end.

Eddis is survived by a daughter and four (4) grandchildren and our thoughts
and prayers go out to them and to everyone who been touched by this
gentleman.

It is a sad day, not only for NSW but for the records and information
management community as a whole. Eddis was more than just a great
practitioner, he was a gentleman and a mentor to everyone and this is
something which I always appreciated. He was also a friend of practitioners
throughout the world. Eddis Linton established tradition at the RMAA,
something we want to continue.

I am glad Eddis was able to enjoy many accomplishments after his retirement
and in his honour, the RMAA established the J.Eddis Linton Awards for
Excellence. This is an important award, one that Eddis was passionate about
and one that deserves to build to rightly recognise the efforts and outcomes
of RMAA members.

Words can never express enough at a time like this what a person means to a
community. Eddis meant a lot to me and the Board and whilst many of our
members were not born when Eddis was practicising, we have and will continue
to remind them of the community and excellence he built and the traditions
he started.

Eddis was one of the finest people I have ever worked with. His
extraordinary intellect, clarity of thought and work ethic were unmatched.

A true gentleman, he will be missed, but still appreciated, by all.

The RMAA will include an obituary to honour Eddis in our infoRMAA Quarterly,
if you have any information you wish to be included, please forward it to
