I'll let the list weigh in on this. I think this is a case of not fully
understanding terminologies.
A DM is a Document Management system... retention IS NOT a common component.
An RM is a Records Management system... retention is a REQUIRED component.
Taxonomy, Controlled Language, Ontology, whatever else you call it is a
requirement to properly access information stored in one or the other, but
does not routinely or always include security, retention, or other aspects
related to the information.
