Sorry -- I'm still a "new bee" when asking questions. 

The drawings are in drawer file cabinet for architecture drawings.  The 
archivist is working on an inventory of their holding and wants to 
estimate all of the collection holdings.  I think my initial question 
should have been -- How have architecture drawings traditionally been est. 
when doing an inventory of records (example: cu. ft., # of drawings)? 
Stephen Cohen has provided some excellent suggestions and a contact. 

SO -- Thanks for the feed-back I'll contact my archivist and ask some 
additional questions.  If I need additional assistance I'll follow-up off 
line with Mr. Cohen and ask for an intro to his Yale resource.  Again 
thanks, you were more helpful than the local librarian I contacted at the 
College of Architecture Library.  I apparently wasn't very clear with her 
either.

Mary,

Your post is a bit confusing. First it says you want to measure the
drawings, then it seems you want to weigh them. Is it either or both?
What exactly does the archivist want to determine about the collection?
What does s/he need to do - rehouse them? Determine shelf space needed?
Determine weight of floor load?

(As general rule for weight, records managers estimate 30 lbs. per cubic
